On-Line Credentialing Service

What Is Interfolio?

The University of Memphis partners with Interfolio to offer electronic credentialing services. Our students and alumni now have a simple way to create and manage educational or professional portfolios. A file can include letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae/resumes, writing samples, dissertation abstract(s), supervising teacher evaluations, transcripts from any number of degrees, and anything else needed to complete an application. These documents are used to support applications to graduate schools, professional schools, or jobs. By storing confidential letters of recommendation, writing samples, dissertations, all documents are easily available when applying. Students can have faculty submit letters of recommendation to their file. Interfolio portfolios are available to students and writers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world.

As a student, creating an Interfolio account is easy. For specific pricing information, students should visit www.interfolio.com and spend a few minutes to create an account. They can then begin building their portfolio immediately.

While traditional portfolio or credentials files have been paper based and difficult to manage, Interfolio files are maintained electronically and are available any time, anywhere from a standard web browser. University of Memphis students and alumni control their own account: adding documents, deleting documents, or delivering documents to an institution. With Interfolio, the application process becomes as simple as telling Interfolio where to apply and when. Interfolio does all the work! Interfolio can send documents electronically to participating institutions or mail them to any location in the U.S. or around the globe. All delivery requests are processed within one business day and priority service is also available.

University of Memphis professors can upload confidential recommendations to an Interfolio account and, within minutes, the document will be available for use in an application. Interfolio maintains the confidentiality of all closed letters of recommendation. While file holders are notified when these letters are received, they do not, however, have the ability to view the contents of the documents. Interfolio also accepts these letters via mail or fax.

Interfolio accepts and stores almost any type of information from paper files to electronically uploaded documents. More than 50 types of electronic files are automatically converted to Adobe Acrobat (PDF), including text and picture file formats. Additionally, Interfolio will scan paper documents and add them to a file holder's portfolio.
