FROSH CAMP
Attention all 2006-2007 freshmen!
Don’t miss this year’s Frosh Camp!>
- What is Frosh
Camp?
- Frosh Camp helps
incoming students establish friendships, learn about what is offered on
campus and begin the adjustment to life at The University of Memphis.
In addition to session about how to make your college experience the
best it can be, there will be plenty of fun stuff to do, too!
Camp
NaCoMe offers your
favorite camp pastimes- swimming, hiking, basketball, or just lots of room
to meet people. Frosh Camp is completely planned and run by current
students, so you know it will be fun!
- Why should I
attend?
- Frosh Camp is the
most fun time of the summer! It will tell you everything you need to
know to have a successful first year. You will meet many o the people
that will be around you for the next four years. You will come into
contact with a group of counselors that are among the most visible on campus
and who are willing to help you however possible. In addition, you
will be ready to go to your first football game already knowing the Fight
Song. You will leave camp ready for and excited about starting college
at The University of Memphis!
- What do I
get?
- Three all-expense
paid nights away from home in a comfy cabin, three all-you-can-eat meals
each day, and even transportation to and from camp. All this is just $40!
Just think, only $10 per day of fun you will never forget. You can’t ask for
a better deal!
For more information
visit the Frosh Camp
website.

<>REGISTRAR
FINAL EXAMS>
The last regular class meeting for Spring 2006 is Wednesday,
April 26. The Final Exams
period begins Friday,
April 28 and ends May 4. For a detailed schedule of exam
dates and
times, see the Spring
2006 Final Exams Schedule. <>
STUDENTS AND GRADES
Grades are available on TIGERWEB as soon
as instructors enter them. However, Spring
2006 grades and related
academic statistics are not “official” until May 11, the Thursday
following the session’s last exam date. Your student should
recheck his/her grades, statistics,
and academic action after that day.>
Grades are not routinely mailed out. If
your student needs a printed grade report (for
example, to send to an employer), then he or she needs to
request a grade mailer; this can be
done in 2 ways:
<!--[if
!supportLists]-->·
<!--[endif]-->In
person at the Registrar’s Office, 003 Wilder Tower (student must show Student
ID).
<!--[if
!supportLists]-->·
<!--[endif]-->Online through TIGERWEB; for instructions see, How
to: Request a Grade Mailer.
NOTE: Students may request Grade Mailers only for
the Spring term, and they may do so only for a few weeks after grades are
official. We send Grade Mailers by U.S. Mail to the student’s Permanent
Address.
PARENTS AND GRADES
“Can I see my student’s grades?” No, not unless you
have your student's consent or you can show that the student is still a
dependent for federal income tax purposes.
This may seem strange to you, but
federal law prevents us from releasing a student's information to anyone but the
student unless we have the student's written consent. The specific law is the
Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA), also known as the Buckley
Amendment.
We recommend that you follow this procedure and that you talk to
your student at every stage:
<!--[if
!supportLists]-->1. Ask your student to show you his or her
grades on TIGERWEB.
<!--[if
!supportLists]-->2. If this isn't practical, ask your student
to complete a “Student Consent to Release Education Record” form that would
permit the Registrar to release a copy of the grades to you. For further
information, including a link to the form, see Student
Consent to Release Education Record.
3. If your student is unwilling to complete the consent form,
you can complete a “Request for Disclosure of Education Record Information”
form, provided your student is a dependent for tax purposes. For further
information, including a link to the form, see Parent
Request for Student Record.<>>

STUDENT FINANCIAL AID
OFFICE
<>Avoid standing in long lines during fee payment
deadline in August!! New and continuing students are encouraged to
complete the 2006-2007 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon
as possible for the next academic year. To apply, go to: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The school code for The University of Memphis is:
003509. >
Beginning with the Fall
2006 semester, our office will NO LONGER mail any requests for required
documents or forms, or any award information. You now need to
go directly to TIGERWEB. Once you
enter your student ID and PIN, select Student Requirements under Financial
Aid. You can download most of the required documents or forms
from the Financial Aid web page at: http://www.enrollment.memphis.edu/FinancialAid/
then click on Financial Aid Forms. To see if you have
been awarded, go to Award Information by Year. (At this time,
Tigerweb automatically defaults to the 2007 year.) We will begin processing Fall
2006 awards about the second week of May.
Students interested in
attending classes for Summer 2006 should visit the Student Financial Aid Office
at 103 Wilder Tower or go on-line to the Financial Aid web page to download the
“2006 Summer Update Form”. Funds
for summer are extremely limited. Federal Pell Grant funds
(if eligible) are available only if a student attended part-time in the Fall
and/or Spring semesters, or did not receive payment for one of those
semesters. If you received aid at another institution during
the Fall and/or Spring semesters, our office would have to consider all aid you
already received. Summer awards are posted under the 2006
year.
Remember
to check TIGERWEB for your personal
updated financial aid information!!
BURSAR NEWS
- Registration for Summer
and Fall ’06 has begun! Students should check their
accounts online at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar to
ensure that they do not have a registration hold due to an outstanding
debt. {The final payment for students who elected to pay
their Spring 2006 fees using the Installment Payment Plan was due by April 1,
2006.}
- Invoices will be available online at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar in
mid-May for Summer and early August for Fall
registrations. Emails will be sent to students and
authorized users notifying them when invoices are available.
- If your student is
expecting to receive excess financial aid, s/he should sign up for direct deposit
before May 15, 2006 for summer disbursements and
August 7, 2006 for fall disbursements. This provides for the earliest
receipt of disbursed funds.
- Visit eBursar at
http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar to
see fee payment deadlines and other information that might be helpful to you
and your student.
- Fees can be paid by
credit card or e-check online at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar.
Student’s UUID is his/her Universal User Identification. The username and
password required to login to eBursar are the same username and
password used to login to University e-mail and UMDrive accounts. At
this Web site, students can set you up as an authorized user, which will
allow YOU to go online to view and pay fees.
- If the student does not
remember his/her UUID or password, go to iAM, the University's self-service identity
management website. This website gives students access to a secure website
where they can change and maintain information about themselves.
- Students can set up a
PIN number at the above site for you to be able to view and pay the statements
and invoices. (This PIN number is new and different from any other that you
may have already established.)
