INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY
Fraudulent e-mail messages can appear to come from
legitimate financial institutions or other businesses. They will typically
ask you to update or send them your personal information, a practice known as
"phishing". <>Don't get hooked by these attempts!
Common phishing requests
are:>
Social Security number
Checking account number
Debit card or credit card number
Personal identification number (PIN)
Security number on the back of your debit card or credit card
You Can Help Prevent Phishing--Don't open their links or
attachments!>
Even if you do not provide information on a website
link the phisher has given you, simply clicking on the link could install
harmful programs, such as key loggers or viruses.
Do not
comply!
These e-mail messages may threaten or urge you to
provide this information in order to stop something from happening to your
account. Most financial institutions will never send e-mails requesting
personal or account information. If in doubt, call your bank, credit
union, or other financial provider to verify.
The Information Technology
Division is dedicated to making our e-mail systems as safe as possible. We
ask that you also be aware of these scam efforts and to help safeguard any of
your personal or university-related information.
BURSAR’S OFFICE
- Although Summer classes
have begun, registration for second session Summer and Fall ’06 is in full
swing! Students should check their accounts online on TIGERWEB to ensure that they do
not have a registration hold due to an outstanding debt, and check
balances at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar.
{The final payment for students who elected to pay their Spring 2006
fees using the Installment Payment Plan was due by April 1,
2006.}
- Invoices will be available online at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar in
early August for Fall registrations. Emails will be
sent to students and authorized users notifying them when invoices are
available.
- If your student is
expecting to receive excess financial aid, s/he should sign up for direct deposit
before August 7, 2006 for fall disbursements. This
provides for the earliest receipt of disbursed funds.
- Visit eBursar at
http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar to see
fee payment deadlines and other information that might be helpful to you and
your student.
- Fees can be paid by
credit card or e-check online at http://bf.memphis.edu/ebursar.
Student’s UUID is his/her Universal User Identification. The username and
password required to login to eBursar are the same username and
password used to login to University e-mail and UMDrive accounts. At
this Web site, students can set you up as an authorized user, which will
allow YOU to go online to view and pay fees.
- If the student does not
remember his/her UUID or password, go to iAM, the University's self-service identity
management website. This website gives students access to a secure website
where they can change and maintain information about themselves.
- Students can set up a
PIN number at the above site for you to be able to view and pay the statements
and invoices. (This PIN number is new and different from any other that you
may have already established.)
MEAL PLANS
During the fall and spring semesters,
we offer 3 dining memberships, the Freshman First/Honor Program Membership and

STUDENT HEALTH
SERVICES
Student Health Services is gearing up for the Fall
Semester and welcomes all our new students! Our new web site has updated
information and a special blog on avian flu. Check it out at http://saweb.memphis.edu/health/.
- The schedule for
several immunizations including: Meningococcal Meningitis, Hepatitis B, MMR,
and Tetanus is posted on our web site and is as follows:
June 9,
13, 16, 23, 27, 30, July 14, 18, 25, & 28, from 1 pm - 2 pm in SHS, or
August 30, 12 pm – 2 pm in SHS.
- Menactra (meningococcal meningitis
immunization) is $120
- Tetanus/diphtheria
is $30
- Adacel (tetanus/ diphtheria/pertussis)
is $55
- MMR is $60
- Hepatitis B is $65 each (3 shot
series)
- Cash or a check is accepted, or you may
prepay with a credit card on-line at www.shotnurse.com .
- Call 685-9999 for further

- SHS highly
recommends all students have two measles, mumps, and rubella immunizations on
or since their 1st birthday. All full time students are currently required to
have these immunizations. As you have read in the news, many Midwestern states
have experienced a mumps epidemic, and many of the affected students have not
been immunized, or only had one immunization.
- The State of Tennessee mandates that
The University of Memphis provide information concerning the Hepatitis B
infection and Meningococcal disease to all students entering The University of
Memphis for the first time. The law
does not require that you receive either immunization for enrollment.
Student Health Services urges our students to be
immunized against Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis B.
ALL new
students must complete the Hepatitis B - Meningitis Immunization Health
History Form before they can register. This form is
embedded in the registration process.
