This fall’s freshmen at the University of Memphis are participating in Memphis Reads, the University’s reading program is now in its second year and all incoming freshmen are required to read the designated book. The reading program is designed to inspire community spirit and a sense of identity with the University. The book is required reading for certain courses and will be the topic of discussions, lectures and other events on campus. This year’s selection is I Have a Dream: Writings and Speeches that Changed the World: 75th Anniversary Edition by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (edited by James M. Washington).

Check-In
The residence halls will be open during the following hours for check-in:
Friday, August 24, 2007
Saturday, August 25, 2007
1 PM – 4:30 PM
Students who are not able to check-in by 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 25 should contact the Residence Life and Dining Services Office at 901-678-2295 and be placed on the Late Arrival List to avoid the forfeiture of the $200 rental prepayment and the loss of the housing assignment.
Fall 2007 Rental
Prepayment
A rental prepayment of $200.00 will be required after an
assignment is made for the Fall 2007 Semester. A deadline to submit the
$200.00 prepayment will be given in the assignment packet, which is mailed to
the student. Students who fail to make the rental prepayment by the
designated deadline will have their room assignments administratively
canceled. The $200.00 is a rental prepayment and will apply toward the
semester’s rent for which it is being paid. Rental payments should be made
to The University of Memphis, Bursar’s Office,
Fall 2007 Room
Change
The Room Change period will be Thursday, August 30 and Friday, August 31 from 1 PM until 4 PM. Students will receive information regarding room change when they check-in. Students are expected to occupy the room stated on the Fall 2007 housing contract until the room change period.
